On our newly flowering Buddleia
Back from yesterday among the really wee bugs, to a butterfly that I hadn't yet captured on 'film'.
This Small Tortoiseshell was avidly exploring our Buddleia, on which the beautiful purple flowers are just out. It gave me plenty of time to away indoors for the camera — and then it posed twice in nice positions. This one came out as the sharpest focus.
I really wanted a view with the front end paraphernalia — proboscis and eyes and all that. But this'll do for a start. At least I got the stripy antennae clearly. I'd never noticed them before.
