Today's the day ........................ for the end of an era

My Mum died today.

She has featured quite a lot in my blip - right up to fairly recently. It was always easy to photograph her doing something memorable because she was that sort of a lady.

Even from the start she was unusual. This is her when she graduated with an honours degree in French and German from Glasgow University in 1942. The remarkable thing was that she came from a working class family where a university education was something way out of the norm.

I spent several hours yesterday, sorting through the many hundreds of photographic slides that my Dad had taken over the years. It was a wonderful insight into the life that the two of them had shared - the good friends that they had made and all the places over the world that they had visited.

Her life was a long and happy one. She was a force to be reckoned with, intelligent and feisty. Things will just not be quite the same without her .......................
