Edinburgh's floral clock
I recently came third in a recent photography competition for a shot of figures in the mist on Edinburgh Meadows on 18 December 2012. The competition was sponsored by Edinburgh City Council, and part of my prize was a guided tour of the floral clock. Today was the day that I claimed my prize.
When I first heard the nature of the award I laughed and laughed. How long could it possibly take to show someone the floral clock? Well, I found out the answer today when I picked up my prize. It took the Botanical Services Manager of City of Edinburgh Council almost an hour to give me a fantastic explanation of how the clock is created each year, show me its mechanism, and answer all my questions - and we could have easily chatted for another couple of hours. My blip is of the clock's hands.
The rest of the day was dedicated to a further five Fringe events:
1. Shakespeare for breakfast
2. Stewart Lee
3. Doctor Brown's bexperiments
4. Tom Binns does Ivan Brackenbury
5. Showstoppers
I also managed an afternoon nap, which was very welcome after last night's very late night - and helped me stay awake until 01:00 on Wednesday morning.
Exercise today - lots of charging around town dashing from venue to venue.
