Soaring
I went out this afternoon to our local gliding club at Abney, about a 15 minute drive away. The skies were glorious and the views from the top quite spectacular. I wasn’t expecting to see any gliders in flight but there were two, and this is one of them.
To appreciate the sky and scale of this blip with the windsock horizontal, I really think you have to view it LARGE.
It is a bit of a shame the windsock and glider are in the middle, but with the wind screaming and a handheld 400mm lens, it was fortunate to grab a shot at all.
I am awaiting the result of the photo competition. I think it will be on Saturday. However, the judging rules were changed at my request, and with the agreement of the other finalists. This was despite the fact that I have been in the lead for the entire voting period except for the morning when I was travelling back from Dover.
It has been a draining and stressful week, I don’t think I will bother to ever enter a photography competition again, it just isn’t worth it. I very rarely become stressed, depressed and irritable, but the competition succeeded in doing that. I’m hoping I will be my normal buoyant self very soon, win or lose.
Thank you for your support during the voting period.
