Belgium Frankfurt Nuremberg

After our over night pit stop in in Belgium we headed off towards cologne.

We made good time and carried on to Frankfurt. We thought it would be a fabulous place to stop for lunch.

Beautiful architecture but VERY disappointing people and atmosphere.

The first restaurant we stopped at husband popped to the gents while I ordered two waters.

Husband returned fuming as our waiter had also been to the bathroom - not washed his hands then pushed past him twice in various doorways.

He wasn't happy and threw the money down for our drinks and left without having them.

The next restaurant we made an effort to sample the local cuisine... Frankfurters of course.

The service there was also not what we were expecting. Although we had started to see the amusing side - we were starting to think Germany definitely wouldn't be on the return hit list.

Fortunately our stay in Nuremberg is turning out to be far more successful.

We are staying in the holiday inn which is surprisingly lovely, glam even and the staff couldn't be more helpful.

They sent us off with a map and advice on the area.

Had a lovely walk around the beautiful town. Had a lovely meal and a few beers by the river served by a very lovely waitress who had lived in gosport of all places for 10 months.

I won't mention the KFC on the way home to our room!!! These German beers are strong stuff.

Husband has been a hero and covered some serious miles today. We will sleep well tonight.
