Dungeness
Went on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, a narrow gauge steam railway built in the 1920s. We only did two stops - New Romney to Dungeness - and back, but it was surprisingly fun and fascinating. This dinky little steam train cut through endless drab suburban housing before heading across the vast, flat sand and shingle plain surrounding Dungeness. You arrive just a few hundred yards from the monstrous nuclear power plant, and quickly find yourself reading the signs posted just outside the train station explaining what to do in the event of a nuclear accident (run away, try not to breathe, etc.) You don't get those with wind turbines. But, then again, wind turbines are an eyesore, apparently, and just look at how gorgeous this inconspicuous little beauty is.
Climbed the Old Dungeness Lighthouse with the boy. He zipped straight up to the top with no bother at all, and zipped straight back down again when he was done. Got himself an ice cream for that.
