Invictus

William Ernest Henley wrote a poem called Invictus. I love the last stanza and in fact line 'I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul' but today, it is the less encouraging first line that comes to mind ''out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole'
