Clifford Fountains
So today, was my first day braving it alone, I spent the time exploring the clifford estates (where the hotel is), which included a trip around a lake.
Not sure if it was due to it being the first day, or being jet lagged, but it was tough. I tried to order lunch, I did order lunch, but after some tooing and frooing with waitresses and trying to get peoples attention. I sat there, silent, unable to brave ... but eventually I got there, ordered some food and a much needed beer. It was a gorgeous beef curry, yummy. I then had the same ordeal coming to pay and in the end put my money on the menu and the staff finally understood... phew that was hard, tasty, but hard!
I then ventured out to the lake, taking in the sights and walking round its circumference. One of my favourite things was a man doing ti-chi (sp!?) on one of the squares and groups of older men/women playing cards/chess on permentant stone benches dotted around the place.
1/2 way round there was a bar, I braved it again, had the same troubles but still managed a couple of beers and some sweetcorn whilst I waited for Chris.
I met Chris and whilst I was waiting at the estate gates took some time to take some pictures of the fountain, this was my favourite in the end.
Oh and I read a whole book as well... I only bought 2, hum maybe I should have bought more with me - good job the next one is chunky!
