Miss Smith's wedding, Great Wakering

We gatecrashed the wedding today of Martha's much-loved reception-year teacher Miss Smith. Lots more pupils and parents were hanging around St Nicholas Church, too.

This is the moment the soon-to-be Mrs Knight thanked Martha for coming and her dad added, "Is that Winky I can see with you?" Winky is an imaginary friend Martha uses for comic effect (he has a moustache and lives on a house boat in China).

Winky's legend has clearly spread further than we imagined.
