The Horizontal Dismount
I see a lot of this and I've become somewhat of an expert on how bikers fall off.
Usually a cyclist starts a chain of events, and some poor biker bites the floor several seconds later further down the queue. The only person who actually knows what happened would be me from my rather unique perspective as Corner God.
But I've noticed that it tends to be the more inexperienced riders who are going down. The natural riders always put the correct foot out, the inexperienced people put either foot out and play the gravity roulette. Left foot down and pride stays in tact. Right foot down and you get to experience catching a heavy bike as it topples over on you.
Or, like yesterday, it was pure incompetance - a guy managed to fall off with no extrenuating circumstances. No cyclists, no rvs, no pushy bikers, just a relatively busy corner that had cleared - and he toppled over - in the middle of the lane as well. Just fell off.
He asked for his photos to be deleted. Personally, I'd more worried about talking to the photographer who just took photos of your appalling riding who thinks you are a prize plonker and get the hell out of there. After making him sweat for 10 minutes, I deleted them.
Should have published them.
