A colourful trio in front of Halliday's Bluff.
This trio were out for a walk, and looked so colourful I asked for a photo.
The Bluff behind slopes up (the river on the left of the photo) and must have been formed a long time ago, when there were different river systems, and probably large ice-melt rivers. This area was covered in ice 20,000 years ago. Maybe it flowed towards the Cardrona river that has since reversed its direction as the Crown Range formed and lifted up, over thousands of years.
Anyway I always look at this bluff and feel it slopes the wrong way.
Just been to a lecture on land movement and earthquakes probably that is what has set me rambling.
