Back to the Gilded Balloon

It was a super Saturday. Eating a drinking activity centred around brunch with friends at their house, a wee tea party at our house (cakes from Casa Angelina), a fabulous dinner at the Outsider, and a long-anticipated trip to the Pommery Champagne bar at the Signet Library.

Amongst all this we enjoyed another three excellent shows: Mitch Benn, Knee Deep, and Hal Cruttenden.

I particularly enjoyed seeing Mitch Benn again. He's the epitome of my favourite type of music: Northern lads, guitars, drums, witty lyrics. As this year's show was largely about the Beatles - a band that fits this type too - I knew that this would be right up my street. The performance was clever and entertaining, and also had some serious points to make about the current state of the British music industry. Mr hazelh's favourite of the day was Knee Deep. This was a superb, breathtaking acrobatic performance by four fine athletes. They pushed their bodies to the limit to give an amazing display of strength, flexibility, coordination, and trust.

My blip is of the late show listings outside the Gilded Balloon.

Exercise today - more stomping the streets of Edinburgh between shows.
