Restaurant or road... Family or profit

Loving the Idea that a restaurant can close a road and set up a band and tables in the middle of it. Where... only in France where food is king and families and children come first over and above local traffic.

We had a meal with a lovely couple, Rachael, Dan and their daughter Maisie from Plymouth (Birmingham originally) good conversation, great food and a great band. The atmosphere in the little village centre (Callian) was amazing with people dancing, singing and enjoying themselves, no drunks, no swearing, no idiots trying to cause trouble.

My thought has to be around the fact that this is something that in England we have lost, too much red tape, to much drinking and to many people being pretentious. We should get back to the days when we had a community spirit, when a street party could be pulled together without months of planning permission and where kids could be safe out of your eyesight as neighbours all kept an eye out for each other.
It wasn't perfect but it seemed to be more relaxed, it seemed a simpler time.
