Day 2:
We had a surprisingly good sleep last night in our little pod! We woke up to a beautiful clear morning, so decided today was the day to do 'the walk'. It was one of our favourite walks from our pre-H days when we used to camp quite a lot, and one we figured H would be able to manage. So we set off from the campsite and walked up into the hills. It was a bit of a boggy, muddy trek (much to H's delight, as you can imagine), but it's totally worth every bit of mud when all of a sudden you are greeted with this spectacular view of beautiful Ullswater. I love it.
We walked to Howtown, then caught the steamer over to Glenridding, had a well deserved beer, then it was back on the steamer to Pooley Bridge and back to the campsite for a barbecue in the sun, complete with toasted marshmallows for pud. We walked around 6 miles in total, which is pretty good for a 5 year old, especially as 5 of them were hill walking. So he got extra marshmallows!
