Art Deco social housing

As the shadows lengthened, we arrived in Milverton (Somerset), to stay with an old friend on our way to Devon. After having packed up the camping gear, we headed off down the M5 , and arrived in Milverton after a relaxing drive through the landscape of late summer.

We had a cup of tea and a catch-up, then set off up the lane to catch a blip. Gellert the greyhound came with us, but soon loped home, leaving us to explore the road to town. Steve stopped to blip some cows and sheep in a field on the right hand side of the road, but my eye was caught by these rather upmarket looking 1930s ex-council houses with Art Deco styling. Our friend Helen tells us they are no longer council houses, which doesn't surprise me. Still, they are a cut above our bog standard 1930s ex council house, which is almost identical to my grandmother's former forestry commission house!

See more of my housing blips here in the neighbourhood stamps series. There are a few more, too, around February/March 2013.

Off to Totnes and deepest Devon tomorrow.
