Giant bike!
Sunday
We are now back in Fontainebleau after our trip to visit our youngest daughter in Macedonia, where she is serving with the Peace Corps. We had driven down to Geneva, where we met our eldest daughter at the airport, spending some of the day exploring the city (until Jen's jet lag caught up with her!), and the evening with her long-time friend Magali who is now living in Geneva. The next day, the three of us drove to Basel airport where we took a direct flight with Wizz Air to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. On our way back, we spent three nights with Magali in Geneva, and explored a few other places around the lake. We left after breakfast this morning, leaving Jen with her friend for another few days - she returns to the States on Wednesday. It was a special time spending two weeks with both our daughters, meeting Laura's host family, and exploring a new part of the world
.
Rather than taking the autoroute all the way back, we decided to cut across the Jura mountains for the first part of our journey, and it was on this road that we passed this giant bike. It is located between the village of Lajoux and the town of Saint Claud, and was apparently built for the occasion of the passage of the Tour de France in 2010!
