"BRIDGE OVER TROUBLE WATER" I will ease your mind
I have driven through Dartmoor many times but never stayed there so I was not really prepared for the remoteness of the hotel Princes Hall Country Hotel where we have stayed this weekend. We chose the hotel because we wanted to share the time with Phoebe our little dog and thought it would be a good exercise for our time away in September when we go to Cornwall. The hotel has a reputation to be good with dogs and this was certainly true. The food was excellent and Phoebe was made very welcome.
From the hotel we could see this bridge in the distance and once we had unpacked and enjoyed a wonderful lunch in glorious sunshine, we set off for a walk passing cows enjoying their ideal grazing. The water is crystal clear and chattering over the rocks in it's very natural condition.
We walked back to the hotel, enjoyed a lovely glass of white wine in the sunshine, then got ready for our evening dinner. We had taken Phoebe's bed etc. and settled her in and went down. As you can imagine, she thought we had left her for good, so we had to go back to re-assure her, when she started barking. But that was the only occassion. After that she knew the 'pack drill'. Ah my people do come back.
The first night was interesting, as I woke several times to see a little white head looking at me, as she stood on her back legs like a Meerkat. But she soon made a den for herself and went to sleep.
Saturday was wet and Tavistock in the rain, was like anywhere else. But there was a Craft Market which we much enjoyed.
All too soon the weekend was over and Mr A was allowed to drive the 'beast' home. Of course, as the sun was shining, a jug of Pimms was enjoyed made to the usual recipe (Mr Schorschi, please make note). We've eaten a salad tea, not wanting to face anymore rich food and now get ready to return to work. I will have to collect the cats after work tomorrow and Phoebe is catching up on lost sleep.
So thank you for your kind wishes for our weekend away, hope you like my blip from the weekend, sleep well and may the sun shine on you tomorrow.
