Harbourside

Off to Irvine today for the weekly shop. Mrs F and I popped into the Scottish Maritime Museum cafe for a spot of lunch.

Think you will agree it hasa a lovely view, the entire East wall is a large window that lets you watch the harbour and the weather out towards Arran.

The large arch shaped building in the distance is The Big Idea interactive museum. It was a millenium project but by 2003 the visitors had dropped to a level that forced its closure.

The access bridge over the river still sits in the open position to allow boats in and out of the harbour. Perhaps one day someone will find a good use for it.
