The Fortune Teller

It had been decades since she'd made one. But you needed a square piece of paper - she remembered that. She folded in the four corners until they met in the middle to make a smaller square. Then she turned that over and folded all the corners in again, making an even smaller square.
She thought about her choices and wrote them inside the flaps and wrote flower names on the outside. If she chose colours she might be able to second guess his choice. She had no idea what flower name he would choose.

"Give me a number," she demanded of him. "Any number."
"Two hundred and fifty-seven?" He was confused.
"Smaller. Under twenty."
"Nine, then."

"Now choose a flower name."
"That one." He pointed to Verbascum

She lifted the flap and gently nodded...

You will stay. For now.

And she did.
