A sign next to the road around York today... Seemingly, this incredible challenge will see motorcycle riders attempting to beat the current speed record for a one kilometre wheelie, set last year at 156.50 mph by Terry Calcott, a 34 year old carpenter from Chesham in Buckinghamshire. The Top Speed Challenge will need both wheels on the ground, as speeds in excess of 230mph are likely. Elvington is the perfect venue for both challenges as it boasts one of the countries’ longest runways and a grippy, concrete surface.
