Crumpsall
I have been camping in the Peak District this weekend with my daughters. We visited the museum in Castleton and this caught my eye. A notable woman who was the District Nurse there in the 1800's was trained at Crumpsall Infirmary, which is now the North Manchester General Hospital.
I grew up in Crumpsall and it made me stop and reflect for a few moments about times gone by.
Other notable people of Crumpsall include Jason Orange( Take That), Lisa Stansfield, Sir Humphrey Chetham (Chethams School of Music), Myra Hindley (unfortunately. Less said the better), Gunner 'Lofty' Sugden (Ain't Half Hot Mum), BBC broadcaster and folk singer Mike Harding and novelist Howard Jacobson.
Current Leader of Manchester City Council Sir Richard Leese has resided there for over 20 years that I can remember, possibly longer, living near the hospital.
