As and When

Life Socks

When I went to watch Monsters University, I also took a trip to ASDA to find a Lego Wolverine set I had heard was on offer. Alas, it was not available. However, there was something probably more useful than a superhero figurine.
A pack of Avengers socks!
But not only that, there was a pack with some of the Justice League on them. I couldn't resist. It was only topped off by the Superman cufflinks that I spotted on my way out.

So here are the Avengers with their cotton counterparts.

The week.

Not a huge amount happened during the "working" week. Bought a steam generating iron (for me, that is pretty exciting). Watched a couple of films; Olympus Has Fallen, and 42: The Jackie Robinson Story.
I'd been waiting a while to watch 42, since I saw the trailer. It is a biopic of the first baseball player to break the colour barrier in 1940's America. Fantastic performances by Chadwick Boseman, playing the eponymous role. He is among rumours to be cast as the Marvel superhero and Avenger, Black Panther. After seeing him in this, I really hope they are true.
Olympus Has Fallen, very gritty action movie where the White House has been captured by terrorists (somehow a film theme at the moment). Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman play starring roles.

The weekend was the Rolph Garden Party in Cambridge. A wonderful mini PhotoSoc gathering of Martin, Matt, Mark, Aimee, Caitlin, Rachel and James. Giant Jenga was used in ways that the instructions probably don't outline. Outstanding accuracy with apples and said Jenga, by Mark, Aimee and myself, resulted in a deferred drink from MattPres. Someone suggested stargazing, which reminded me that was a meteor shower over this weekend. Fortunately, it was a very clear sky for a while, so we saw a few satellites, and two HUGE meteors. It was awesome to see. Thank you to Martin and whole Rolph family.
