Faded beauty
I took a walk in the woods around the Trentham Estate with my friend today. This takes in the Duke of Sutherland monument and also goes around the back of the Monkey enclosure.
I was only commenting that I'd not seen a red admiral butterfly this year, and we did today as we neared the end of the walk. But what a bedraggled creature it is.
I've discovered we're more likely to see more of them from mid-August to early Autumn. They're also primarily a migrant. So may be this one has just made it to the UK. I'm now on the look out for more in the next few weeks.
