SHAWARMA !

On our way home from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary tonight we got a lovely surprise when we came across a Shawarma shop! Whilst living in Oman for six years we always had shawarma on our way home from a night out or if the kids were peckish after being at the beach. They were very fattening and greasy but very tasty. So we pulled in to the car park and went to investigate. The guy behind the counter had more of an Aberdeen accent than some Aberdonians! He has been here for 26 years apparently . We ordered two to go and after five mins headed home in anticipation of eating our goodies. It is with sad heart that I have to report they were nothing like our Omani shawarma.
They were just like the usual kebabs that you can get in any shop in the centre of Aberdeen, which is fine if that's what you want. Guess I will have to go back to Oman for a holiday if I ever want to taste the kind we were hoping for !
