Common Blues in cop
A rather hackneyed image, I know, but it rather summed up today, I visited a wonderful area next to the nature reserve with Nick Bowles of Butterfly Conservation. I have seen Chalkhill Blues there again this year and as Nick is the Chalkhill Blue Species Champion for this area, I wanted to show him. We saw two male Chalkies but, sadly, no females. Very different with the other blues - we saw lots and lots of Common Blues and Brown Argos, both males and females and some mating going on. We also saw Silver-washed Fritillaries still flying, Clouded Yellows, Red Admiral and plenty of Small Coppers as well as all the usual suspects.
