Maasai Shield & Foreign Body!

This colourful shield is the gift our son gave us on his return from East Africa earlier this week. It comes from Kenya, and is made of cowhide.

Foreign Body - This afternoon I decided all of his luggage and unpacking should be cleared before his brother returns from a watersports camp tomorrow. I turned his empty rucksack upside down, and out jumped a cockroach. OK it was a small one, but nevertheless I got quite a shock. He killed it quickly and was laughing at my reaction, saying he'd seen several of these in Africa during the last four weeks.

Rucksack now thoroughly checked out - thankfully no more to be found!
