Let me take off my coat first

There are a few scarlet sage plants (Salvia Splendens) growing on my courtyard and recently holes have started to appear in the leaves. When I was watering them earlier today I decided to try and find what was making those holes. It took quite a long time to find the caterpillars because of their wonderful camouflage colour but I eventually managed to spot 7 of them. Even though I knew where to look after that, I still had trouble finding them again when I took my eye off them.

It was actually quite fascinating to see those little jaws munch away incessantly at the leaves of the plants. The caterpillar in this shot was even slipping out of its old skin while I was watching it. The old skin is sticking to the leaf just behind it and a bit of it's old head piece hasn't fallen off yet either.

The sky was clear last night and I was able to take a few shots of the moon this time but decided to blip the caterpillar instead. The moon will be there again another time and hopefully the sky will be clear again at some point so I can blip it then.

Thanks very much for the comments and the stars on my bumble bee blip from yesterday.
