When You Least Expect It

I had a quiet time on the beach this morning…Chose Smugglers Cove because it’s unusual to see anyone there… The new moon and high tide brought up some good seaglass so I went home happy after a couple of hours… I cheerily went to Dublin to see the lunchtime play “Scabs” about the 1913 Lockout in which my nephew is an actor…. And left in a rage that has stayed with me for the day…and the evening……..I was reminded of losing my job for union membership back in 1980 and the price I paid for it that continued for 30 years….of the history lessons in school that neglected to tell me of the food parcels sent from England that kept my paternal grandparents alive…… I am blessed to have been married to a good woman who counseled me into the man I am today…. In the morning I will be on the beach alone…. and at peace with the world….. I am the successful legacy of her lifelong project…
