Honey Party

I went to an annual honey extraction party at the house of a beekeeper friend. In the hives the bees build the combs and produce the honey on those frames. There is a kind of "cap" of wax on the outside. When it's time to harvest, Dan brings in the frames and with a flat electric iron, he melts and shaves off the cap, opening the cells of the comb.
He then slides the frame down in that aluminum cylinder (it holds 4), turns the crank, and the honey flies out onto the sides of the cylinder and runs down to the bottom. There is a spigot at the bottom where the honey comes out.
They do all their cooking on that beautiful wood stove. A pot of chile is waiting, and we all brought salads, cornbread, fruit, and wine. One lady just returned from Wisconsin, and she brought cheese with apples and cinnamon in it - something new for everyone.
If I can figure out how to post extra pictures somewhere, I will do that.
