Out and About

Alpine Lakes Wilderness

My friend, Barb, called last night and said, "Let's go hiking tomorrow." The weather has been amazing in the Pacific Northwest and we know those short and rainy days are just around the corner so we jumped on the chance to go on a hike. We drove up to Snoqualmie Pass and hiked to Snow Lake. I was at Snow Lake only about a week and a half ago. We made it even more interesting this time and hiked on to Gem Lake. It's so nice going hiking mid-week because there are not as many people on the trail.

I am always impressed at the number of women backpacking by themselves. That would not have happened 30 years ago. Today, the most memorable person we met was an 80-year-old Hungarian man. he's been hiking these mountains for 30+ years and is out constantly.

I love living in the Pacific Northwest!
