Dragon Spiders

The afternoon I arrived in Entebbe I headed straight to the Botanical Gardens. This 45 hectare site is home to hundreds of species of trees and plants from all over the world. It is also home to a family of Vervet monkeys, Colobus monkeys and many many species of exotic birds.

However one of the most interesting, and somewhat terrifying sights was the 'cluster' of Dragon Spiders. These live in groups of over 100 and are 4 or 5 inches in length. Whilst they are non-poisonous they have still been known to eat small birds and reptiles.
