A reclining man.

A local church that goes back to Norman days has this figure carved in a block at the base of the stonework. Despite some weathering and part of his leg being missing I think the chap has lasted a long time in quite good condition. I don't know the story behind this at all.

He appears to be wearing a hat or crown and is his right arm holding the handle of his sword? Perhaps he is reading the bible as he goes to sleep cos there is what looks to be a book on his abdomen.
