RV Aora, Marine Station, Millport
The RV Aora is a research vessel built in 2003 at Macduff Shipyards. It's used for trawling, dredging (I think), water sampling, acoustic survey, underwater TV work and It can accommodate 5 scientists and crew. It takes part in equipment trials and education. It also can operate an ROV (remotely underwater vehicle)!
It sits in the bay at Millport and today it was not there. I was off the island today so spotted its disappearance early morning.
When I returned in the afternoon it was docked at the Marine Station. I was not allowed any closer so although it's not my best shot, it's the best I could do!
A tedious meeting but it had to come some time and it was only til 1pm... I also returned to a HUGE pile of paperwork to read and acton, that arrived from the authority today - apparently I can expect that weekly! Joys!
