View from a tower
Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland has a tower that can be ascended. Curly stairs, handrails in places, some metal fences lead to a platform at quite a height. This view looks towards the village of Craster about a mile away. Access is by foot only. This afternoon the walk was a pleasure, lovely warm sun, whispering of the waves and a dry greensward. Spotted a dolphin or porpoise out on the briney sweeping in and out of the water.
We had visited Seahouses prior to this for the obligatory fish and chips from Neptune fisheries; truly fish and chips of the god(s). Also to get Seahouses kippers from the wonderfully named 'Swallow Fish'. This is located down narrow unmade roads but is well worth a visit just to see the interior decorated with a hotch potch of all things fishing. The kippers are great.
