Pickle House

Today our whistle stop Maritimes tour landed us in Halifax , Nova Scotia. We visited Pier 21, which was the entry point to North America for many immigrants - evacuees, war brides, and those looking for a better life, between 1954 and 1971. It has been turned into a museum with artifacts and many first hand accounts from those who landed there.

Within the museum is a small art gallery, where several creative pieces were displayed on the the subject of 'dwelling' - and to quote: "Act of dwelling within a landscape is based on an accumulation of repeated necessities.........which might manifest itself as a 'pickling' of architecture........." Whew - and much more.

I blipped it because of its title, and I rather liked the carving - a large structure - this is a tiny part of it - which had a beauty all of its own, even if I had trouble following the legend!
