So that's that. The end of a favourite walk is now out of bounds, the former oil platform yard at The Ardyne sold, apparently to a London property developer. The news has barely broken - the local paper doesn't come out till tomorrow - but the gate is locked, the pedestrian gate padlocked. And that's a CCTV camera on the pole on the right of the gate.

One of the new notices on the gate informs us that the site is dangerous, and gives a number to phone in case of emergency. The number is an Edinburgh one. It takes at least two and a half hours to get here from Edinburgh.

Fed up? Well yes, just a little.
