Beached

The one thing there is in profusion in the Pacific Northwest is trees: thin ones, tall ones, fat ones, needled and deciduous, from alpine to rainforest climes. I posted some from the rainforest earlier in the trip and we saw many more today in the Hoh forest.

What surprises me is the number of trees that come to rest in just about every water body in the area from rivers to lakes to the ocean. This behemoth was on La Push' beach and has been there for quite a while; it's been sanded down smooth and white, as were hundreds of others.

They make for beautiful abstract sculptures and I've noticed that many locals have them in their front yard. I think I would do that too :)
