Diary of an Edinburgher

The Bitches' Box

Uncle A and I ventured out in Hot Magenta for whirl round the Park looking for a blip as a wee outing. And then a shopping expedition. We sure know how to live it up!

I made suggested that Uncle A do his own shopping, and merely wandered along behind him, ready to fend off anybody who might bump into his sore arm. Lots of treats were popped into the trolley, I noticed. No wonder he’s not keen on my suggestion of possibly doing his supermarket shopping online.

This afternoon we caught a show in George Square - one we’ve meaning to go to, but today was the only suitable day, now that JR is no longer on holiday. It was called, ‘The Bitches’ Box’ - a real Kiwi theme about working sheep dogs. When the females go on heat, they’re locked away to avoid any mishaps.

They were SO funny - they had dogs’ mannerisms down to a T. We had the front row, and my shutter finger was itching to take low light shots to try out my camera, but photography was not allowed.

At the end, we hung around to see them. (Groupies). They must have just had a quick towel down and changed, as they emerged looking lovely - and they'd really worked up a sweat in the show (in fact, we all had - the venue was tiny, packed to the gunnels, and steaming hot). They kindly posed for me by their poster, then they were off to the airport to fly back to NZ! I will send them this photo as a souvenir of their Festival. They had 5 star rave reviews. Good luck to them. It was great to hear the Kiwi twang. And indeed, Fred Dagg songs at the beginning.

But something very very exciting has happened today. But I’m saying nothing yet. Suffice to say, bubbly will be quaffed this evening... and maybe even some popcorn.
