Reclamation

Zihuatanejo's climate is tough on man-made structures. There is always some kind of maintenance to do on the concrete and metal used in construction, especially on buildings located close the ocean, yet we have noticed few seem inclined to perform said maintenance on a regular basis. At all levels, from individual to government owned, ongoing repairs are deferred until it is easier, or less expensive, or quicker, to tear down and rebuild. That looks to be the case here on Playa Madera, debris from an old structure remain next to newly poured concrete in preparation for the next incarnation at this site. The graffiti will be removed, probably with a fresh coat of concrete rather than cleaning and repainting, and the stonework redone as yet another site is reclaimed from the ravages of heat, humidity, and rain.
