Watching
What a day! After a very windy night, we woke to near perfect conditions, Sunny, clear and a dying wind.
Lovely cooked breakfast, a walk to the shop for coffee and ice skate fitting, then off to the ice rink for the afternoon session.
I should really be blipping the rink, because it's quite unique. It's an outdoor rink, situated on private land and run by volunteers. It costs $5 to get in and all profits go the Staveley Hall Society for community projects. It doesn't open every year, as obviously the ice has to freeze, but luckily this year it has, although it's close to ending - this weekend may be it.
So, we went to the afternoon session, lots of fun and quite a few people. Then went home for dinner and a rest , and then came back for the 7pm evening session. A roaring fire, flood lights, an d warm mulled wine. Perfect.
Fun, fun night, got the kids home at 9.30 - exhausted ;-)
I loved the concept of this person sitting in the spotlight, dark all around, watching the skaters.
