Museum of Scotland
We went for a wander round the Mary Queen of Scots exhibition at the Museum of Scotland. My favourite exhibit was Philip II's huge astrolabe and various pieces of exquisite jewellery owned by Mary & also given by her to favoured friends.
The thing that struck me most was that Mary is perceived as a v tragic figure & yet it's her bloodline that occupies the British throne while the evil Tudors disappeared without trace. QEII should make more of that, I reckon.
Then a tasty if slightly chaotic lunch at Ondine. Embarrassing reservation blunder (not our fault) which was eventually resolved.
