Modernist falcons
Wandering by the Tate Modern today, I noticed the RSPB van. Where there's the van, there is at least one peregrine falcon around. Sure enough, when I aimed the camera up at the Tate Modern chimney, I discovered a falcon. Then, when I got home and looked more closely at the picture, I realised there were two! Apparently it has been known that visitors to the Tate can be hit by the odd falling pigeon head due a falcon kill. Urgh. Beautiful birds, though, and it's the first time I've managed to spot them. Can you see the two of them in this blip? If only I had a mega mega zoom!
I find it amazing that this kind of wildlife lives amongst a thriving city.
After wandering through Covent Garden and picking up a repaired watch (now finally working), Fred decided we should go and see Brüno, which had us crying with laughter. I can see how it can be very offensive, though, and it's certainly not family viewing. I preferred the Borat film over the two, possibly because Borat is happily naive, whereas Brüno is arrogant and deliberately offensive, or so it seems to me.
In the evening, we settled down with snacks and the iplayer, and watched a fantastic film, The Bothersome Man, which has still got me thinking. It's open-ended and gives much to contemplate.
