Forge Welding
I had to modify some cast iron parts on the stove I am restoring today. I don't have a grill for inside to firebox so I remade a standard BBQ grill to fit. Hopefully it will be up to the task. Time will tell.
I also repaired one of the legs which had a massive crack in it.
The best way to weld cast iron without it cracking it to heat it up on my little forge, weld it while it is very hot and then let it cool slowly in the forge. Otherwise the cast iron just continues to crack in other places.
I was very pleased with the results.
