La Palma, Canary Islands

La Palma fire

I took this photo as a symbolism of support for people who are affected by the fire which is raging through a part of southern La Palma at the moment.
Every summer, La Palma has fires but thankfully usually quite quickly containable and up in the pine forests, where there are few houses.
The difference is that this time, the fire started in a much more populated area with 4,000 people currently evacuated. And there are only around 85,000 people on the island to start with.
I am not sure that La Palma has seen such a serious fire before with so many people affected.
In the north, where we are, the forests that we can see in the middle distance are calm and green for which we feel grateful.

Incidently, the photo is of a traditional style bbq which sits in an open fireplace in a garden room. Rain or shine, it's bbq time!
