Ed Book Fest
Not having booked anything this year, I thought I’d have a wee wander round to the bookshop for ideas maybe coffee or beer but a wander never the less.
I’m wandering around the walkway when I kind of recognised someone walking towards me, and for me to do that is surprising in the least. Anyway this guy stops and asks in a deep articulate west coast accent “What is the way out of here?” Turns out to be one the most respected of Scottish writers William McIlvanney. I was able to give him the directions fairly easily but it kind of made my day.
On the grass in the Book Festival was this time illustration indicate past and possible events that might have significant impact and the one that caught my eye was 2009 when the sales of e-books via Amazon exceeded the sale of dead tree books. I buy almost all my books in e-book format but am still reading my old paper ones as well
