Happy Birthday Daddy!

It was Mike's birthday today. He had to go into work first thing to open up as it was GCSE results day, then he'd arranged to go and play golf with Tim, and when he got back, Eva was having a nap, so it was around lunchtime when Jake also got back from Nanny and Grandad Nash's caravan that we did presents and cards.

I'd got Eva one of those cards that you record a message, having visions of Eva goo goo ing or laughing with me singing Happy Birthday in the background. However, it didn't quite go that way. After trying to coax Eva into making any kind of sound by trying to make her laugh, tickling her, pulling faces, getting her toys to tickle her, you name it, and Eva just staring at me in silence with a bemused look on her face, plus the fact you get 10 seconds, so any noise she did make, I missed, I settled for recording some footage I'd got of her laughing, whilst I shouted Happy Birthday Daddy haha. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall trying to do that card lol.

Every time Mike baths Eva, he plays her Simply Red live in Cuba, off his iPod to her. There's some really lovely songs on there that do get me all choked when I hear them and see Eva with her Daddy, like For Your Babies. So I got Eva the DVD of the album to give to her Daddy for his birthday.

On the night Mike's mom and dad came round for a curry. We moved the kittens along with all their toys up to Jake's bedroom, so we could all sit round the table in the back room, without the babies climbing up our legs and across the table. We had a really lovely evening, and Eva didn't stir once, bless her.

I think Mike had a really lovely day, his first birthday with Eva in our lives xxx
