Supper of the Lamb
This is actually the title of one of my favourite books - by Robert Farrar Capon - but it seemed to fit our lunch today, at Casa Ortega, which was the stuff of dreams.
We went up a hill and walked onto a terrace overhung with grapevines - the grapes hung in colourful clusters all around us. I went mad photographing them - the dappled sunlight, the luminous green or copper leaves. Sr Ortega brought us bread and wine, and then casually reached behind our table and plucked us a bunch of grapes - the connection with this Lord's Day wasn't hard to make.
Lunch was three roast legs of lamb - one between two - though superb, we could not finish it all. Even so, I thnk Capon would have been proud of us.
