The Castle
Blackness Castle in West Lothian , Scotland.
This a proper fighting mans castle, none of your poncy Kings chambers or Great Halls for balls; this was a garrison, a prison for French POW's, political prisoners and local thieves. This has walls 5.5 m thick with built in areas for heavy artillery. It has it's own jetty and special back doors to allow defenders to out flank attackers. It was eventually brought down by Cromwell and his artillery (boo hiss spit.... very bad man...). This was a state top security prison. You can get married there now, oh the irony.......
This was also the setting for Franco Zefferellis Hamlet starring Mel Gibson.
