Sahin grew up in Bingol, Eastern Turkey helping with his grandfather's sheep. He is the oldest of 7 and has spent his adult life working in Western Turkey and England to support his family but particularly funding the education of his younger siblings to enable them to have opportunities that previously weren't open to Kurds. It was great to hear him speak last night about the real progress that seems to have been made, particularly over recent months,to resolve the conflicts in Eastern Turkey.
