Sugar cane train.
Coming back from Airlie Beach this afternoon, we had to stop for this sugar cane train. When the cane is harvested by a big cutter on the back of a tractor, the chopped cane is put into the back of trucks, which then load the cane into these wagons. This train takes the cane to the factories. There are quite a few warnings on the highways, saying that it is cane harvesting season and to watch out for these little trains crossing the roads.
We had been into Airlie Beach today to have lunch with the people who live in the same bay as us in the Sounds. They are over here for the winter, skippering and hosting a big yacht that takes people out cruising around the Whitsundays.
Yesterday, we were also there, to met up with another chap who lives about 10 minutes from our place back home, who has been over here working in the mines for the last 4 or 5 years.
Tomorrow we had off for Sapphire, with a one night stop at Mt Coolon again on the way.
